Mini-cation

Got back from a beach trip with some friends over the weekend and finished up the Fire Brigade tonight. See it here. There's a lot of stuff on the Flickr stream that I have been building lately.

Apparently Flickr won't let you hot link an image any more. (/lame)

Next on the list is the Green Grocer. Then I'm thinking about rebuilding some of my old school official technic sets.

Brick Fair

So, Brick Fair 2010 is in the bag. I'm sure lots of fun was had by all. I know I had a good time. All my pictures are uploaded to Flickr, but I'm going to highlight some of my favorites here:

Yay for half off sets at the LEGO store!

The Tower Bridge - I heard this was the first time it was assembled outside Billund.

Awesome tractor that was built by a guy from Fayetteville.

My awesome (sarcasm) combo build model.

My farm set up.

Y-M-C-A at Dan's drag strip.

Jamie Berard's original cool creator car with working lights.

Matt's railway sign.

Arthur Gugick's Jimi Hendrix mosaic made of printed 1x2 tiles.

Not sure who did these awesome M1A1's.

My next LEGO house will have a curved staircase like this.

PennLUG's dock with a container ship.

I believe this is one of Cale's trains. And it might be the best LEGO train... ever. It's mini-fig scale and will go around a curve. You just can't build anything near the curve of the track.

Dan's NXT band - I've got a video somewhere.

Gugick's Flat Iron Building.

14' tall cranes and a sweet windmill - they came from SC.

This was my MOC's neighbor - very cool.

My other neighbor - I was green with jealously at all the monorail awesome-ness.

Because of this MOC I know a new architecture term - Googie!

Back from Brick Fair

Yikes - there were like 19,000 people there! I'm culling pictures for Flickr now and some day I will post my thoughts about the 2010 Brick Fair.

Back from vacation

We were at the beach last week for vacation and had a blast. This week is little J's birthday and I spent all night putting together his present. So there hasn't been much time for getting things together for Brickfest.

At the beach I finished The Tenth Justice. I have to say it was my favorite Meltzer book so far. I am about halfway through The Desert Spear, the sequel to The Warded Man. If you like fantasy you should definitely add those to your book shelf.

Craziest thing I heard today: Jack Tatum, who passed away today, wrote three autobiographies. Three! Published in 1980, '89, and '96.

Farm House

I'm still working on the farm for BrickFair and have finished the farm house. I'm still trying to figure out a silo and some tractor equipment.

The Farm is Starting to Shape Up

I have been on a LEGO spree this week. I built a few cars the other night and this evening I finished the first element in my farm layout for BrickFair, the barn.

I am really happy with the way it has turned out since this is my first stab at anything like this. My little church had to come apart to make this happen, but I think it was worth it. The roof does lift off and there is a sparse interior. Surprisingly for something that I built the roof does fall apart if someone looks at it wrong (unlike the church).

The next project will be the farmhouse, or the silo. I haven't decided yet.

As an aside - the farmer looks uncannily similar to my dad in my opinion. Although Dad probably wouldn't wear a red shirt with green overalls. Maybe farmers dress like that in Denmark.

Stuff for BrickFair

Long time, no blog. I have been working on some stuff for Brick Fair in August and read The Warded Man by Peter Brett.

We have cows..

... LEGO cows that is. And some camels. The farm now has some livestock (0ther than ostriches). Now it just needs a farm house, barn, silo, tractors, etc.

What use are camels on a farm you say? They can be leased to churches for live manger scenes at Christmas! Other than that I have no idea.

Charlotte trip

Becky and I left little J with Mimi at our house today and drove off to Charlotte (well technically Concord) t0 watch Perry at the Richard Petty Driving Experience and do some shopping at Concord Mills. I think Perry had a good time and it was awesome to get to go in the infield of the track. Here are my favorite pictures from the day:

Of course no trip to Concord Mills is complete with out a trip to the LEGO store.

One of these days I'll build something will all of my tan bricks...

10195

I'm still building through the stuff I picked up at Brick Magic. Tonight I finished the Republic Dropship with AT-OT Walker, #10195. I figured I should take some pictures, because I don't think it will stay together for too long.
